Dell D820 Laptop - Soon for Sale
It's time to usher in a new era in my life. Last year I became technomadic. This year, I'm taking the plunge and will soon be ordering a MacBook Pro. Yup, I'm finally doing it, the time has come. While I love my laptop hardware wise, I hate Vista. I can't develop under it anyway, it's frustrating with no apparent benefits - and I am using VMWare for my development environment anyway. And, by this time next week.. I will have a 3G iPhone as well. Yup, I'm going all the way and becoming a Mac geek.

So, that means that soon I will have my decked out Dell Latitude D820 laptop computer (named Serenity) and my Motorola Razr V3c for Verizon available. As I hate selling laptops on eBay, I'll offer it up here first.

Specs on Serenity, Dell Latitude D820
Service Tag: 1JSCRC1
Ship Date: 4/4/2007 (just a bit over a year old)
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T7200, 2.00GHz, 667Mhz 4M L2 Cache, Dual Core
RAM: 2GB (2.0GB, DDR2-667 SDRAM, 2 DIMM)
Video: 256MB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M TurboCache
Harddrive: 120GB Hard Drive 9.5MM 5400RPM
Screen: 15.4" WUXGA - 1900x1200 resolution (yes, you read that right)
Networking: WiFi, networking and Bluetooth built in
Ports: 4 USB ports, Firewire, Express/PC Card, VGA
CD: 8X DVD+/-RW- module bay
Batteries: Upgraded 9-Cell/85 WHr, plus 6-Cell/48-WHr Modular Battery that can replace the DVD drive (if you trim it up right, you can get up to 5 hours of battery power!!)
Power Adaptors: Includes a brand new Dell 85w power adapter, as well as a 65w travel slimline adapter with 12v connector.
Warranty: Comes with the remainder of the 3 year Dell Gold Next Business Day warranty AND complete care. Basically, this thing is covered for any mechanical problems or accidents (covers drops/spills,etc) happening to it thru 4/4/2010, and Dell will show up at your door to fix it if they have to. Plus you get priority (read: non-Indian) business level chat/phone support.
Operating System: Vista Business (ugh). I did run XP-Pro on it for a while too.
Weight: 6 lbs 10 oz
Size: 14" x 10.25" x 1.6"
Condition: Runs fantastically (minus that whole Vista thing). Has some minor scratching on the case from being technomadic for a year. Batteries holding a good charge too. Screen in fantastic shape - no dead pixels.

I purchased this computer new for about $2400 new just over a year ago, and it looks like you can order a new D830 very similarly configured for about $1800 (plus shipping/tax). Basically, my then-high end is the now-base end of this model. I'm shooting to get $1200 for it. It'll likely be available for shipping by the end of the month (I have to get my new one in, and get it configured.)

(On the Razr, it seems they're selling used on eBay for about $70 so I'd be happy selling direct for $60. This one is silver, and the only damage to it is a crack on the camera lens cover, that does not affect the pictures at all. The battery holds a fantastic charge - I go for days without recharging. Comes with A/C charger, original box and manual. This should be available in about a week.)

Umm... kinda.

Ever since Vista, he's become much more open minded :)

At least, I don't think I'll have to also sell my body on the streets.

Welcome to the land of smug. This will pretty much offset your loss in smug points you are going to suffer from selling your Prius. :-)

Another geek succumbs to the Apple juggernaut.... *grin*
